ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The only independent film festival of its kind in Northern Indiana, the IUSB IVFF is held on the beautiful campus of Indiana University South Bend.

Sponsored by the IUSB Film Club and supported by the IUSB Alumni Association and the non-for-profit Mid America Filmmakers, this non-competitive festival is open to anyone who makes shorts or features, on video or film, including high school and college students.

We began this festival to give Midwest filmmakers a forum to screen their works and meet other regional filmmakers. We also have received films from across the country as well as Canada, China and England.

FESTIVAL LOCATION

Wiekamp Hall, Room 1001 (main lecture hall) and room 1135 on the IU South Bend campus. Visit www.iusb.edu for directions.

THE 2007 FEST IS OVER!

4/16/07 - Well, another great festival has come and gone and the consensus seems to be that this was the best one yet. We had awesome films, outstanding filmmakers, excellent workshops and a terrific staff and audience.

Also, here are the results for our two "Bendie" awards:

Committee Choice Award: The Fixer by John Whitney

Audience Choice Award: Confusions of an Unmarried Couple by Jason & Brett Butler

Congratulations! We'll have our call for entries for 2008 in early fall 2007 with a deadline of January 2008.

2007 FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

We have selected three outstanding features to screen this year: Open Mic'rs by Woodworks Films (Indianapolis), The Dork of the Rings by Richardson Productions and Confusions of an Unmarried Couple by Substance Productions. We're also screening the three-part Star Trek Vs. Batman by Rasco Films

We very pleased to be screening  L.A. based Angry Baby Monkey Productions' four hilarious shorts The Wright Stuff. Other short film highlights include The Method (New York), Slumber Party! (Chicago), Raven Gets A Life (Mishawaka)and the much talked about documentary Welcome To Snyderville (Notre Dame).

LOCAL IVFF FILMMAKER SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS L.A. WOMEN'S WORKSHOP

Mishawaka filmmaker Devi Snively (Confederate Zombie Massacre!, Raven Gets A Life) was recently one of just eight auteurs selected to be part of the American Film Institute’s Workshop for Women in Los Angeles.

She’ll be shooting her submitted screenplay with SAG actors and raising the money for the production herself, along with a $5,000 grant by the Institute. Snively is very active in the Michiana film scene as the chair of the Mid America Filmmakers screenwriting committee, a professor in horror film at Notre Dame, and head of her own production company Deviant Pictures. Her films have screened many years at the IUSB IVFF and scores of other film festivals internationally.
