ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The only independent film festival of its kind in Northern Indiana, the IUSB IVFF is held on the beautiful campus of Indiana University South Bend.

Sponsored by the IUSB Film Club and supported by the IUSB Alumni Association and the non-for-profit Mid America Filmmakers, this non-competitive festival is open to anyone who makes shorts or features, on video or film, including high school and college students.

We began this festival to give Midwest filmmakers a forum to screen their works and meet other regional filmmakers. We also have received films from across the country as well as Canada, China and England.

FESTIVAL LOCATION

Wiekamp Hall, Room 1001 (main lecture hall) and room 1135 on the IU South Bend campus. Visit www.iusb.edu for directions.

2006 FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

in 2006 we will be featured the campy horror flick Confederate Zombie Massacre! by Indiana's own Deviant Pictures which has screened at over 30 festivals to date. We'll also be screened Infidel by South Bend filmmaker Peter O'Keefe, whose previous films have screened internationally.

A few other Midwest films we screened include Coma Care, Oh No! Zombies, Veena Slide, A World At Waste, Zen's Ank, Fly, Jesus II (by Laporte high school students),and Yankee Doodle: Archibald Willard & "The Spirit of '76."  We also screened five shorts created for the New World Arts 24-5 film festival where Goshen area filmmakers wrote, shot and edited five films in 24 hours.

We received a lot of awesome films from around the country as well. They included the hilarious comedy Fleetwood by California high school filmmaker Candace Infuso (winner of our Committee Choice Award 2006), the parody Deliverance: The Musical, and a variety of phenomenal comedy shorts by a talented group of  New York filmmakers called Rag Tag Productions.

We were also pleased to screen Still Living by British filmmaker Kit Shah, who co-directed this short film with his uncle Kiran Shah who recently appeared in The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings
