The film premiered March 6 in South Bend, IN at the Mid America Filmmakers annual winter screening, where the script won "Audience Choice Award" in the $100 Movie Project contest a year ago.
The task was for each of the six
screenwriters to pull an incomplete B movie title from the hat, and Tim
Richardson drew "Night of the Living _______." They then
performed a staged reading and at the end the audience voted on which one
should be made into a short film, which is then screened a year later at
the annual event. Since Tim has a huge Mr. Potato Head collection, he
decided he would use his resources and shoot the 10-minute film as miniatures
over five weekends in his basement studio. The Mr. Potato Heads were
puppeteered for the entire film. Zombie effects were created by Andrew
Swisher and costumes by Janice Bennett, who both had worked on The Dork
of the Rings and Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise.
